Before moving on to the preparation steps of the moringa and cocoa cake recipe, let's learn more about its main ingredients.
The cacao, the scientific name of Theobroma cacao, is not from the "cibo degli dei" (Famiglia Malvaceae), it is a millenary plant originating from the Americas of the South.
The historical attribuiscono ai Maya the rule of scopritori and primary coltivators of cacao, which era considerato a sorta di tonico nella penisola dello Yucatan.
I semi di cacao furono donati a Cristoforo Colombo durante il suo quarto viaggio e successivamente scoperti inche dagli Europei.
The cacao is a part of the foundation of the Aztec kitchen and is considered to be of such a high price that it can be used for money from scambio.

Cocoa nutrients
The nutrients in cocoa:
Cocoa is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, B vitamins and substances such as serotonin, caffeine, tyramine, phenylethylamine and theobromine.
It contains flavonoids, highly effective antioxidant molecules that are present in abundance in the form of epicatechin.
Due to its antioxidant properties, epicatechin is believed to effectively promote fat burning by stimulating lipolysis and supporting weight loss (in moderate amounts, of course, as recommended by the trusted nutritionist).
The most important alkaloids contained are theobromine and caffeine, which each have a euphoric and stimulating effect. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid consuming it in large quantities to prevent physiological dependence (just like with coffee). Theobromine also has diuretic effects.
What is interesting is the high antioxidant power of cocoa, which is one of the strongest (19 times more than an apple).
It is considered an energy-rich and stimulating food, and some studies have confirmed its antidepressant properties.
The study "The neuroprotective effects of cocoa flavanol and its influence on cognitive performance" shows how flavonoids preserve cognitive abilities and reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and stroke.
They also have a beneficial effect on the vascular system and promote general brain well-being.
Moringa
The Moringa oleifera is a plant that has been known for thousands of years and is valued for its exceptional properties. Originally from the Himalayas, it is now grown in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe.
The entire plant, from leaves to seeds to fruits, is edible, and moringa is valued for its richness in nutrients:
In fact, it contains 4 times more beta-carotene than carrots, 7 times more vitamin C than oranges, 17 times more calcium than milk, 46 antioxidants, all essential amino acids and 30% vegetable protein, as well as a good amount of omega-3 and omega -6 fatty acids.
It also contains plenty of vitamin A, B vitamins and minerals such as iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and 36 anti-inflammatory ingredients, including quercetin.
For this reason, moringa has always been considered an excellent tonic, used to combat malnutrition and is the subject of studies to treat various diseases. The positive effects are due to the high concentration of antioxidants.
Thanks to the fiber and B vitamins, it promotes digestion, helps you lose weight, ensures a feeling of satiety and promotes the overall health of the body.

Ingredients:
250 ml whole milk at room temperature;
5 medium eggs (at room temperature);
300 g sugar;
200 g soft butter at room temperature;
zest of 1 lemon;
1 pinch of fine salt;
1 sachet of baking powder for cakes;
455 g wheat flour (Type 405).
For the moringa dough
30g wheat flour (Type 405);
15g Moringa powder;
For the cocoa dough: 30g unsweetened cocoa powder
Proceedings
Sift the wheat flour (Type 405) and the sifted baking powder for cakes into a bowl.
Mix these ingredients together and set the bowl aside.
In another bowl, mix the sugar and butter softened to room temperature.
Beat the mixture with a hand mixer and add a pinch of salt and the grated lemon peel.
Mix everything well and gradually add the eggs previously beaten with a hand mixer while continuing to stir.
Do the same with the flour and baking powder, adding a tablespoon at a time while continuing to stir.
Pour in the milk slowly. Once you have a fluffy dough, divide it in half. In one half add the flour and the Moringa powder from RedMoringa and stir until you get a creamy and homogeneous dough.
Do the same with the other half, but add the cocoa instead.
Now you have two homogeneous doughs, which you alternately pour into a previously greased baking pan.
Place everything in an oven preheated to 170°C and bake for about 40-45 minutes.
